TEA President: “We are heartbroken for the students and families affected by the tragic shooting at Antioch High School"

The following may be attributed to TEA President Tanya T. Coats, a veteran Knox County educator:

“We are heartbroken for the students and families affected by the tragic shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the students, staff, families, and the entire Antioch community as they navigate the aftermath of this horrific tragedy.

“As educators, we are deeply committed to the safety and well-being of our students. As we grieve this heartbreaking loss, TEA stands ready to continue the important work alongside our community partners, law enforcement, and policymakers to ensure that schools are safe for every child, every educator, and every family.

“Our thoughts remain with the Antioch High School community, and we offer our full support as they begin the long road to healing.”
