UniServ Coordinator/Field Organizer in for UniServ District 7

TEA is seeking applicants for the position of UniServ Coordinator/Field Organizer in for UniServ District 7.  The TEA affiliates in District 7 consists of are the Athens City Education Association; the Bledsoe County Education Association; the Bradley County Education Association; the Cleveland City Education Association; the Etowah City Education Association; the Grundy County Education Association; the Hamilton County Education Association; the Marion County Education Association; the McMinn County Education Association; the Meigs County Education Association; the Polk County Education Association; the Rhea-Dayton Education Association; the Richard City Education Association; and the Sequatchie County Education Association. UniServ Staff coordinates, assists, supports, and advises local leadership with the implementation of the programs and activities of the local, state and national associations within the UniServ district. Responsibilities of the individual filling this position will include organizational development, member representation/advocacy, and issue organizing. Membership recruitment and retention as well as leadership identification and recruitment will also be key expectations for the individual serving in this position.

A bachelor’s degree is required (master’s degree is preferred). The coordinator will be required to reside in or near the District 7 area and must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. The coordinator must be able and willing to travel to assigned areas, work long irregular hours in and across the district to organize and carry out diverse job functions of a UniServ Coordinator/Field Organizer.

Preference will be given to applicants who have successful public school classroom teaching experience or previous Uniserv experience, demonstrated creativity and skill in organizing local affiliates across diverse areas, an understanding of teacher evaluation systems, direct experience in the development of local organizational positions that are responsive to local/state educational policies, knowledge of the collaborative conferencing process, and a thorough understanding of Association structures and governance.
