TEA Advocacy Delivers Wins, Blocks Harmful Bills

A big part of TEA’s advocacy to protect and advance public education in Tennessee happens when the state legislature is in session in Nashville.

Throughout the 114th General Assembly that ended in April, TEA members took action both online and in-person.

They took time during their spring break to attend Civication at the Tennessee Capitol in Nashville, contacted lawmakers, shared information with colleagues, engaged on social media, and helped elevate the issues affecting our public schools and students.

“Together, those actions created a powerful, statewide advocacy effort that ensured educator voices remained part of the conversation,” said TEA President Tanya T. Coats. “While no single email, phone call, meeting, or social media post changes policy alone, collective action does."
